Aberdeenshire Single Malt

This is a core whisky but in the LBD style. Full transparency, still made with a passion for the spirit, whisky we care deeply about and always about making something tasty to share at a fair price.

We wanted to make a whisky that opens up what we do here at LBD to a wider audience and gives people a chance to pick up that second bottle or come back to a whisky, rather than just a fleeting glimpse of a beautiful single cask that can never be repeated again.

It had to mean something to us, feel special and taste great. This is that whisky, a labour of many years and something we’re proud to share with you now.

This is us, our house style, our approach, our fascination with the spirit and a little taste of home, our home, Aberdeenshire.

Each batch is hand numbered. Batch sizes are about 2000 bottles, big for LBD but small by industry standards. The overall recipe won’t really change batch to batch but given the small sizes we expect there to be some small batch variation, which actually we want to celebrate. It’s one of the things that we, as whisky drinkers ourselves, enjoy about small batch whiskies, exploring the different characters and realising the similarities. It’s from the same vatting as the PPP, 60% 1st fill bourbon barrels, 40% oloroso and PX sherry casks, refill and first fill.

Distilled at Glen Garioch Distillery, just 10 minutes away from LBD HQ. We debated including the distillery on the label. It is not a secret, we’re proud to use their distillate, but we wanted to keep this as our identity. We are whisky makers, we made this whisky.

We’re a proud Aberdeenshire company, surrounded by fields of malting barley and some of the best distilleries in the Highlands. We love the Glen Garioch distillate and it was the prefect choice for our first ever repeatable whisky, a real taste of home.

Based on the silhouette profile of the hill, Bennachie, as seen from the gates of our distillery and bond, forms the shape of the label, with the forests and fields in the foreground. We’ve included some smaller details, like the outline of Peedie, the little brown dog in the barley field and the gate to the farm with an LBD cask out front. The label includes a scan yer dram QR code, linking to a specific web page that explains the whisky making process from our side and gives a full breakdown of cask types for those that are interested.
