Refill bourbon barrel matured Bowmore, certainly one of our favourite Islay distilleries (ok we admit it, we love them all).
We were pulling cask samples recently in the warehouse, this particular cask had a very unique character, one so unique we marked it with a (very rough) sketch of a roast chicken.
We’re not going to win any art prizes any time soon, but yeah, chicken cask, more specifically roast chicken flavoured crisps. Which explains why the label artwork is a crisp packet.

It’s one of the (many) things we love about single cask and small batch whiskies, unique characters that can’t be replicated.
Bit more peat oomph than you normally get from Bowmore, wonderfully fruity before becoming a bit more umami and gorgeous texture.

Colour – Runny honey
Nose – Nectarine, smouldering birch, buttered toast
Palate – Tinned peaches, miso, honeycomb
Finish – Roast chicken crisps (potato chips for our more far flung friends).
